SABAL PENTARKAN?(WSI)?

Introduction?

Prostatic problems:?

Hypertrophy of the prostate is common in men of advancing age. The enlargement of prostate and the related problems have been reported in 60% of men in the 50 and over age group. The cause of prostate enlargement is uncertain but an increase in oestradiol in elderly men resulting in hormonal imbalance with increased age is a scientifically significant indicator for benign prostatic hyperplasia. The common symptoms are retention of urine, irritation and increased urgency and frequency of urination, nocturia, incontinence resulting from bladder irritation. In extreme unattended cases there may be complete retention of urine.?

In cases of inflammation of the prostate gland (prostatitis), symptoms are dysuria, pollakisuria, painful defecation. Sometimes it can develop as a consequence of urinary tract infections.?

Urinary tract infections:?

Lower urinary tract infections (urethritis or cystitis) are characterised by pyuria, often with dysuria, urgency or frequency. Acute uncomplicated cystitis in women is caused by Escherichia coli in 80% of cases. Recurrent cystitis is mostly due to exogenous re-infections.?

Indications: Problems in voiding the bladder (micturition disturbances) due to prostatic enlargement, and acute urinary tract infections such as cystitis in women.
